The deputy governor tasked with supervising the block of ministries and departments responsible for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ preparation will appear in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The decree, including such a change in the structure of the regional government, was signed by the acting regional governor Gleb Nikitin. This was reported in the regional government media service.
"The new structure will unite in one block led by the deputy governor the government units responsible for the preparation and hosting of the World Cup games in Nizhny Novgorod: the Ministry of Sport, the Ministry of Culture, and the Department of Tourism and Folk Crafts. It was created as a separate entity for the first time. Thus, the implementation of tourism potential and the necessary infrastructure for this becomes one of the priorities in the work of the government not only in the run-up to the World Cup, but also for the long-term," the report said.
2018 World Cup games will be held from June 14 to July 15 in 11 cities of Russia. Nizhny Novgorod will host four group stage meetings, as well as the 1/8 finals and quarterfinals matches.
